Celebrate Hawai‘i Farm to School Month!
Aloha,

October is Farm to School Month in Hawai‘i! We invite you to join us for one or more of our farm to school events this month. Please share this invitation with people in your agency or organization that you think would benefit from the opportunity to connect directly with school garden and school food programs on Hawai‘i Island.

Hawai‘i’s Farm to School Bill passed in the 2015 legislative session. The bill creates a Hawai‘i farm to school program in the Department of Agriculture and a farm to school coordinator position. The mission of farm to school is to increase the amount of locally grown foods procured by Hawai‘i’s schools and increase coordination and support for PreK-20 agricultural education, school gardens, and school farms.

We cordially invite you to visit one or more of Hawai‘i Island’s school gardens or charter school food programs during the month of October and experience for yourself the engaging learning and tasty foods being served at some of our leading farm to school sites. A list of opportunities available during Farm to School Month is below.

Please RSVP for all visits and/or lunches by using the RSVP links below or by calling Donna Mitts at 808-887-6411. We will confirm your reservation and email you details for your visit.

Mahalo,
Nancy Redfeather
